Brussels Trip

This weekend I had an excellent time in Belgium. I came to Brussels (via Welkenraedt, a place in Belgium only) on friday night. I never realised, when I crossed the border between Deutchland and Belgium.) KumarDa (my brother-in-law) and ShilpiDi (my sister) came to recieve me in Brussels Central Station. That night itself, we went to see the Atomium(an huge structure replicating an ion, built with iron), and a local site-seeings in proximity to the house. I came to know that Brussels is the capital of European Union. Hence it is a very important city in the continent of Europe. We went to see the place where usually the EU conferences take place. That was beautiful.
The next day we went into the city to explore it to the fullest. We went to La Basilica(an old church) follwoed by the Central. Central had all the old beautiful buildings, which are currently used for the govt. purposes. In fact it is interesting to note that all the old European cities have a commonality in them. All of them have a center and two rings.(outer and inner) In the center all of them have the important administrative buildings, castles, with beautiful architectures. By then we started feeling hungry. So we had our lunch at a Turkish shop. We had a turkish preparation called 'durum'. It is actually a chicken roll, and quite heavy. Our apetite seemed to be enhanced with the real sweet Turkish music. Their music always carries a dance tune in it. That is their speciality. Our next plan was to go to 'Mini Europe'. All the novel architectures of Europe were put together at this place. We roamed all across Europe in only 1.5 hrs. Interestingly, ShilpiDi and KumarDa, decided their next touring destinations. Next we straight went to Ostande (a sea beach on North Sea). The trip was marvellous. The 'motorway' was something new concept for me. They are very similar to National Highways of India. These highways were built for speedy transportations. They have an entry and an exit points from each city they come near to. We had road map of Belgium with us. That helped us a bit. Actually KumarDa has a strange fascination for maps and cartography. He has road maps of countries like Netherlands, France, etc. KumarDa(who is always very fond of driving) sped up upto 130 km/hrs. The more soothing thing, apart from the beautiful nature was the pleasant old hindi no.s. and rabindrasangeet. We sang our way to the coast. This was my first visit to any foreign coast. The place was chilling cold. The temperature was about 17 degree celsius. I tried to have a nice bath in North Sea.(In fact I was fully prepared for that experience) But, unfortunately, due to the intolerable temp. I dropped the plan. We then returned straight to Brussels after staying the whole 'day out'. While returning, I saw few gangs of bikers. These bikers hail from all across Europe. Well, bikers from Netherlands are quite famous in this place.
I took a total of about 200 pics in the digicam of KKda, putting it to the fullest utilisation. We came back and found people from local cities pouring into the city. There was a local match between Club Brugge and a club from Brussels only. We had a typical bengali dinner at night. The menu had 'pabda machh' and 'chingri' (prawn). The whole day was all about a terrific touring and masti.
